This morning on The Today Show, there was a segment about baby names. The two most popular names right now are Isabella for girls and Jacob for boys. And one big naming trend...babies being named for Twilight characters- Bella, Edward, and CULLEN. Bella and Edward (and yeah, Jacob)- fine. Good names. I love Isabella/Isabel/Isobel. Edward is a good name for a boy. But CULLEN? Fine if it's your family name...but otherwise, it just screams fangirl!
I really shouldn't talk. :p If I ever have a daughter, I'd probably name her Briony (my second choice after Olivia). Yeah, like the girl from Atonement. I love the name. It's pretty and unusual without being weird. I think it was actually popular in England at one time.
But Cullen...I can imagine kindergarten teachers five years from now with a dozen Cullens in their classrooms, rolling their eyes (even if they liked the books, too).
ETA- yeah, I know Cullen is a good Gaelic name, but it's going to be overused now. Be original, people!
