Words fail me.

Michael Savage is a dick. End of story.

I've known autistic kids, I've worked with them, my sister works with them. Autism is not a made up thing, and it is not easily diagnosed. This fool needs to educate himself before he shoots off his mouth.

Reminds me of Tom Cruise's Scientology- fueled tirade against antidepressants and Brooke Shields.

Yeah, my ex-brother-in-law is autistic. I think I've mentioned before that my ex and I lived with his parents - my ex's brother is the same age as me, and lived there too, so I saw everything up close for about five years.

I'm not sure what the specific form is called (he can't control his temper over the smallest and strangest things, is obsessed with statistics and has the awareness of what and what isn't appropriate of a small child - for instance, he'd sit in the living room with his hand down his pants while we were all in there watching TV).

Most of the time, I just dealt with him the same way I would deal with a five-year-old, but I admit that there was one time where I wanted to punch his teeth down his throat. (He yelled, "Why don't you faggots move back to Waterloo where you belong?" - I think it was because we wanted to watch something on TV that wasn't American college basketball.) He also had absolutely no sense of hygiene. The only time I remember ever seeing him clean was at his mother's funeral. (I'm not sure why his parents didn't do something about that.)

While I'm sure there are some forms of autism that can be controlled (I have another friend who has Asperger's, and if she didn't tell you, you'd never know), it's not that simple.
