Actually, I've read that had a full scale nuclear war happened during the 80's, Broomfield would have been a secondary/tertiary target. Why, I can't imagine.

Could it be because there are missile silos buried in the ground?

Or is that underground place near there...oh...what's it called? the one that looks like the place the Stargate is located.

Nope and nope. At one point, there was Rocky Flats nearby (they made plutonium triggers for bombs), but they've been closed for nearly 20 years.
