The Golden Globes...

...should be re-named "kissing James Cameron's ass". I can't believe he won for directing Avatar over his ex for The Hurt Locker...If Avatar wins Best Picture (Drama), I'm going to skip the Oscars.

My nephew- the target audience for films like this- saw it yesterday and said "It sucked."

Good things- Meryl Streep won Comedy Actress for Julie and Julia, Sandra Bullock won Drama Actress for Blind Side.

Aw, Sally Hawkins presenting Comedy Actor. She's so adorable. Why the hell didn't she get nominated for an Oscar last year, after winning the Globe?

Annoyed that Matt Damon didn't win Comedy Actor for The Informant!- one of his best roles ever.

Jeff Bridges wins Best Actor- Drama...which means he'll probably get the long deserved Oscar. I really wanted Colin Firth to win, though.

Aaannnnnd, Avatar wins. Screw it, I'm not going to bother with the Oscars. The awards are being dumbed down.

Well, I don't know...although I can't see it til it comes out on DVD, I've heard several people say Avatar was great.

I liked Avatar, but it really did have a pretty bad script.

These award ceremonies are not 'for the people' - they are for the Hollywood types. The Hollywood 'insiders' are rewarding their people. If you believe that any of this, at any time, has ever been about quality vs patting each other on the back or greasing the palms of people you want to work for...

I have *always* refused to pay attention to this crap. Sometimes it's fun to watch, but, first off - it's just TV/Movies. It's nothing of any value (balance it against Haiti, for instance). But, even just looking at it from the entertainment value - I refuse to let some Hollywood insiders tell *ME* what is quality and what is crap. I'm not a sheep, I can make up my mind for myself.

And god knows, I can't tell you how many 'Oscar winning films' I've seen in the past, that are just utter crap. At least, they just aren't interesting to me.

As I said yesterday, I've seen maybe 5 Oscar nominated films over the last 5 years, and three of those have been the Lord of the Rings films. Everything else just looked completely uninteresting to me.
