One week in...

I started the diet my surgeon suggested one week ago. So far,
I've lost ten pounds. I'm surprised at how well I'm sticking to it. I've started exercising more, too. It helps to have a goal (in my case, being ready for surgery). I should have no trouble losing another twenty to thirty pounds by late March.

Fantastic!

I'm trying to get my last ten off. If I do, I will no longer need the CPAP.

After a bit, your new way of eating will be comfortable and you'll feel bad if you go off of it.

Best of luck!

Thanks! I'm really watching everything I eat now. Eventually it should become second nature. No more mindless snacking- hit the celery! Control portions- easier than I thought. And don't beat myself up for slipping. That's why I've always had trouble before. I'd mess up, get discouraged, and go back to old habits.

You will slip. The mind just loves its old way of eating. But don't let it get you down, but just say, "OK, I screwed up today but tomorrow is a clean slate." That way you don't go nuts.
